Notices  :  Tuesday 2^nd February 2010

1) Remember that our next meeting on March 2^nd will start at the slightly earlier time of 7.00 pm, but don’t worry if you cannot be here by that time.  It will be the Masterclass for four Royal Northern College of Music students, conducted by John Owen Edwards.  There will be an interval.  We expect it to go on until 10.00 pm, but there will be a break at about 9.30 pm when those who cannot stay until 10.00 pm may depart without feeling they interrupt anything.

The evening will be sponsored by the legacy from the late Harold Sumner.

2) The January meeting, postponed because of the weather, has been rescheduled for Sunday March 21^st.  Same time 2.30 pm.  We look forward to hearing Chris Browne and friends’ Lost Chord Instrumental Ensemble’s sparkling Spring Concert.

3) We have some attractive new publicity leaflets and thank Paul for the major part of the work of producing them.  Please ask for some to take to your local library, evening class centre or music shop as they are more eye-catching than the old ones you may have taken there.

7) Opera North will perform Ruddigore in Leeds on Saturday January 30^th and several other dates, and at the Lowry on two dates, Wednesday February 24^th and Saturday February 27^th, all at 7.30 pm. 

8) Sale G&S Society will perform Iolanthe at the Garrick Playhouse, Altrincham February 23^rd to 27^th.  See leaflets or to book ring Gwen Burslam on 973 1970.  Tickets £11 adults, £7 for patrons and under 16’s.

9) Preston G&S Society will perform a traditional Ruddigore using the alternative title 'The Witches Curse' at the Preston Playhouse, Market St. West, Preston PR1 2HB from Tuesday 23rd to Saturday 27th February – NB three things in that week!  Tickets £10 or £8 concessions (no concessions Fri or Sat) from tel 01772 339452.  More details on their web site www.prestongass.co.uk
